While we appreciate the enthusiasm, we operate on private property so we do not offer site visits for those not registered in a program due to liability, security concerns and time constraints.
We are on Big Hill Springs Road just north of Calgary, AB! We are about 5km west off of Symons Valley Road. See our home page for a map and how to find us on Google Maps.
Unfortunately, in order to set you up for success, our lesson program is structured in 2 and 3-month terms. This allows the rider time to get comfortable with both the coach and the horses. A couple random lessons won't accomplish much. It's a slow process to build all of the skills required to be a confident, competent rider!
All riders must be no more than 200lbs
The max weight for the Mini Session Leadline Lessons is 100lbs and is available for new riders aged 5 through 12 years old.
If children are over 120lbs, they need to be at least 5'4" to fit into the next saddle size up!
Due to security and liability concerns, we limit the number of guests allowed on-site. Adult riders may bring a spouse or minor children. Minor riders may bring their parents and minor siblings. Everyone who enters the property must be approved by facility management and have a liability waiver signed.
Additional guests beyond these allotments are not permitted unless the usual guardian is unable to attend the lesson and an alternate adult is required to bring the minor to their lesson. Such swaps must be communicated to Hudson Horsemanship with 24 hours’ notice for proper documentation to be prepared. Unauthorized guests will be asked to leave the property and you risk your lesson being cancelled.
Maybe! Send us an email with that you're looking for and we will do our best to make your wish come true!
Overall, riders need heeled boots and a helmet.
For the 60-min riding lesson program, you need an equine-specific riding helmet and a membership with the Alberta Equestrian Federation. This gives you $5M in liability coverage.
Each program and event has their own registration and cancellation terms. Please see your specific activity and email us if you have any further questions!
